Are you looking for THE best DIY body and face scrub? Because I’ve found it! And the struggle’s been real, folks. It has been very hard not to use this wonderful-smelling, secret-to-the-softest-skin scrub in every shower.
And it’s super easy to make! I’m no DIY-er and I fail miserably when it comes to making my own concoctions. But if I can successfully make this, anybody can!
There’s only three ingredients to this body scrub, and you probably already have all three in your pantry. Here’s the ingredients and the amazing benefits they’ll bring to your skin.
My absolute favorite part of this scrub is the coffee! The smell of coffee while you’re showering, especially bright and early in the morning, is so revitalizing and refreshing.
Your skin loves it just as much!
The caffeine in coffee is chock-full of antioxidants which will help protect your skin from UV radiation and keep you looking young and vibrant! Ferulic acid in particular will also aid in reducing inflammation and carries fantastic anti-aging benefits.
And say goodbye to cellulite! A relaxing scrub with coffee grinds will increase circulation and tighten skin appearance, while the caffeine will aid in the breakdown of fats and may temporarily reduce cellulite.
Coconut oil carries many of the same benefits as coffee such as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. But it also makes for a great natural moisurizer. Coconut oil will help soothe and hydrate dry skin.
While it hydrates, it will also be helping to fight off acne! About 50% of the fatty acids in coconut oil are made up of lauric acid, which is a strong antimicrobial that will kill off bacteria and keep your skin clean.
Hello, amazing exfoliation! Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells on the outermost layer of the skin surface. This process can help brighten skin, prevent clogged pores, reduce the look of scars and fine lines and leave your skin feeling brand new.
So, there are two options for this part. When I made my scrub, I used regular white sugar. When combined with the coffee grounds, it made for a rough scrub and left my skin slightly irritated. My next go around, I plan on using brown sugar for a softer scrub.
Like I said, this DIY scrub is super easy to put together!
1/4 cup coffee grounds
1/4 cup melted virgin coconut oil
1/2 cup sugar (brown sugar recommended for a lighter scrub)
1. Mix coffee grounds and sugar together in a bowl while you melt your coconut oil.
2. Once your coconut oil is melted, mix in well with your coffee/sugar mix.
3. Transfer mix to a glass storage container.
Whallah! Super quick, super easy face and body scrub that you can make at home!
Keep in mind, when using this during your shower, it will get messy. The coconut oil will also make your bathtub slippery. Be very careful!
For best results, use this scrub daily, about three times a week. Trust me, you’ll want to use it every day.
